Introduction to using Traffic Simulation Software in a real World

In coordination with the Office of Scientific and International Collaborations at Iran University of Science and Technology, the Traffic Research Laboratory has announced its readiness to hold a course titled “Introduction to Using Traffic Simulation Software in a Real World”.

Traffic simulation software plays a crucial role in traffic engineering today, with numerous applications in assessing current conditions, examining design specifications, and managing traffic control. One important aspect is its practical applicability and its ability to closely align with real-world outcomes, which will be the focus of this course.

The course will be conducted by Dr. Afshin Shariat Mohaymany, a professor in the Transportation Engineering Department of the Civil Engineering Faculty, in collaboration with one of his colleagues in TRL. It will span 8 sessions, totaling 12 hours of instruction.

During the course, participants will gain valuable insights into the fundamentals of traffic simulation software, with a specific focus on Aimsun. They will explore various aspects of Aimsun, including simulation models, setting up and configuring simulations, and analyzing the results obtained. The instructors will provide hands-on guidance on utilizing Aimsun, ensuring that participants develop the necessary skills to tackle real-world traffic challenges using this powerful simulation software.

The course is designed for professionals and students in the field of traffic engineering, urban planning, transportation engineering, and computer science. It offers a comprehensive introduction to traffic simulation software, irrespective of prior experience or knowledge in the area. Whether you are a novice seeking to learn the basics or an experienced practitioner aiming to enhance your skills, this course caters to individuals at all levels.

By attending this course, participants will have the opportunity to enhance their knowledge and proficiency in traffic simulation software, enabling them to make informed decisions in their professional endeavors. They will be equipped with the tools necessary to evaluate and optimize traffic management strategies, design efficient transportation systems, and contribute to the development of smarter and more sustainable cities.

The course will be conducted on-site at the Traffic Research Laboratory of the Iran University of Science and Technology. The practical nature of the course allows participants to engage actively, and collaborate with fellow attendees. The small class size ensures personalized attention and an optimal learning environment.
